Sunlight, heat, rain, and irrigation all degrade the material on your vegetation. South Florida provides all four in quantity. The effective window is measured in weeks, and shorter during heavy rain periods.

None of this means the treatment failed. It means the treatment did the one thing it does, and the conditions producing mosquitoes were still there afterward.

The rosette of leaves forms a central cup that holds water, and each leaf base holds a smaller amount. A single mature plant can hold several separate reservoirs. Flush each one with a hose, filling until it overflows and washes the contents out. Do this every three to five days rather than weekly.

Clogged sections hold standing water invisibly. Clear them and confirm they actually drain.

Empty every saucer under every potted plant, including the ones on the lanai and by the front door.

Refresh the water twice a week. Moving water in a working fountain is less of a concern than a fountain that has stopped running.

Any sag holds water. Adjust the tension so water runs off instead of pooling.

The drip area beside the unit stays damp during summer. Check whether water is collecting rather than draining away.

Walk the yard the morning after a storm and note where water is still standing. Those spots are producing mosquitoes.

Sprinklers hitting saucers, bromeliads, and low areas refill them daily regardless of rainfall.

A landscape bed with a dozen plants is a dozen breeding sites, refilled by every rain and every irrigation cycle. If your mosquito pressure is worst near a specific bed, the bed is worth checking before anything else.

Nothing you do on your side of the fence changes what is happening on the other side. This is why homes in dense neighborhoods often need more frequent treatment than homes on larger lots.

These are two different problems requiring two different responses.
Breeding sites are where the water is. Larvicide and source reduction address them.
Resting sites are where adult mosquitoes spend daylight hours. Mosquitoes rest in shaded, humid, protected vegetation: the underside of dense shrubs, ground cover, the interior of hedges, the shaded side of the house. Barrier treatment targets these areas, which is why a technician spends time on your landscaping rather than spraying open lawn.
Dense landscaping can be a resting site without being a breeding site at all. Clearing standing water does not reduce resting habitat, and treating resting habitat does not stop larvae from developing. Properties with heavy mosquito pressure usually need both addressed.

Wellington, Lake Worth, and Jupiter all have neighborhoods built around canals, retention ponds, and lakes, and homes near those features receive mosquitoes from habitat that no residential treatment reaches. The same applies along the canal networks through Port St. Lucie and the waterways in Stuart and Palm City.
Coastal humidity extends the season on both ends. Breeding sites that would dry out in a drier climate stay productive here, and irrigation keeps landscape beds damp even during dry stretches.
The practical result is that South Florida has no month without mosquito activity. Pressure drops during the dry season without disappearing.
